The book “One” by Kathryn Otoshi reminds readers that everybody counts, and is a great tool for facilitating conversations with kids about inclusion, acceptance & courage.
The story highlights the message that when one person is brave and confident enough to stand up to a bully, their actions can give others the courage to stand up along side them. It also illustrates how much the actions of one person matter – both the positive that comes from a person doing something kind or brave, as well as the negative from a person treating someones else poorly (such as being a bully).
The way the book is put together reminds me of one of those brain teaser puzzles (like a wooden cube that is made of lots of different pieces assembled together) – so simple and calm and peaceful looking when assembled properly, but so complicated to put together.
My kids love it (you will see their review as part of the video), and I do as well!
